The Vertx Everyday Ready Pack is a Mid-Sized EDC bag with big capabilities. 

The EDC Ready Pack is a two-strap backpack that is a bit smaller/more discreet than the Gamut. In comparison to a few other models, the EDC RP is larger than the transit sling, about the same size as the commuter sling, and smaller than the Gamut Backpack.

This bag splits the middle of the pack offering a roomy backpack that isn’t too bulky. Layout is intuitive and the colors available allow blending in, regardless of your environment. We love this bag anytime a dual strap, no-nonsense yet highly capable bag is desired. More compact rifles can fit with ease. In our experience, the largest rifle that fits properly in this bag is up to an 8.6" Galil, or up to 7.5" Barrel Length AR15's. Keep in mind: Your muzzle device may make or break your ability to fit your rifle into this bag.

The Vertx Ready Pack is a Middle Weight Champ. 

The Ready Pack hits above its league when discreet yet capable carry is desired. It's a middle of the road sized pack that fits perfectly into most daily situations. In terms of size, the Ready Pack is smaller than the Gamut, but a little larger than the Transit Sling or Commuter Slings. Additionally, this bag features dual straps, ample padding, and a well thought out internal storage design to maximize capability and comfort. This is a bag built to go anywhere you go. There are very few situations where this bag would not seamlessly integrate. 

What Makes The Ready Pack Special for Everyday carry?

  • The Main Compartment is spacious with a simplistic layout. 
  • This main compartment opens very wide, allowing easy access and placement of gear. 
  • Inside the largest compartment are two separators (one for laptop or iPad), and a second padded separator that's great for paper notebooks, folders, or other paperwork. Additionally there is a zipper pocket that is perfect for keys, gum, pens, or anything else smaller. 
  • There are ample loop panels inside this backpack. 
  • The Ready Pack features water bottle pouches on both sides of the bag. 
  • Integrated grab handle on top of bag is great for "grab and go" scenarios. 
  • There are two external pouches on the front of the ready pack, ready to be filled with your smaller gear or additional medical equipment. 
  • There is a third compartment (closest to your body) that is perfect for smaller handguns or other critically important gear. The pocket being against your body makes it harder to access by unwanted individuals when it is on body. 
  • The Ready Pack can accommodate a soft armor panel in the main compartment.  
  • Fits up to a 15" Laptop in padded compartment. 
  • Smooth back surface for simplicity and comfort. 
  • Stabilizer strap goes across chest for better weight distribution for heavier loads or longer walks. 

The Ready Pack is the perfect everyday carry companion for folks looking for a mid-sized load out in a compact, elegant bag. It is small enough to blend in, yet capable enough to carry your daily gear. While it is not the largest bag available, it is packed with valuable features and simplistic yet capable organization flow. 

When do we choose the Ready? Pack

We gravitate towards the Ready Pack when a more streamlined, lightweight load out is desired. While this bag is not as large as the Gamut Bag, it certainly is no lightweight. We feel that this bag is a perfect day bag. It fits a laptop, iPad, notebooks, and all other office gear easily. It can even fit concealed handguns with ease, or even rifles that are between 5" and 8.5" barrel lengths. We feel that this bag is perfect for more sensitive environments as it presents professionally, yet maintains a discreet capability that doesn't stand out.

Technically it could, but it's not the ideal bag for it. 

Frequently Asked Questions:

In our experience 5", 7.5", and 8.5" rifles will usually fit in the main compartment. It's a snug fit, but it works well for our AR15's and even our Galils with 8.6" Barrels. If you are looking for a bag that can house a 10.3" or 10.5" AR15, the Gamut bag will be a better fit. 

The Armor Compartment is approximately 10.2" X 15.5". The Premier Body Armor BPP-9152.1 Panel will fit perfectly into this backpack. 

This bag is perfect if you desire a smaller, lightweight, yet still capable bag. The Dual Straps are very strong and very comfortable, making long commutes a breeze. It's also perfect for folks who EDC carry a concealed handgun. Additionally, it will fit smaller micro rifles and PDW's. 

If you desire a heavier, larger load out or you need to fit a larger rifle, this bag will not be the best fit for you. Additionally, if your everyday carry requires TONS of small pockets and internal storage, you may not find the best match with this bag. Larger load outs typically work better with the Gamut Bag. 

There are plenty of quality bags on the market. There are also many…not so great options. We bought our first Vertx bags back around 2015/2016. We have been a customer of Vertx for years and we have used nearly all of their backpacks, slings, and packs in our personal lives. Our team quite literally carries Vertx bags on us every single day. There is a reason: They are extremely well built, they are laid out well, they can take immense abuse, and the don’t look tactical. The last thing we want is to have bags that look tactical or are laid out poorly. The Vertx bags in general are well built, well thought out packs.

For heavier / larger EDC Load outs a two strap bag will be more comfortable. The weight will be distributed better with the dual straps. Additionally, you'll experience less fatigue when rocking a dual strap concealed carry bag / pack. Smaller load outs are often perfect for sling bags. Additionally, a single sling bag is often faster to deploy a concealed firearm. This is because the bag can stay on body during the draw. Further, a single sling bag when deployed often can act as a "plate carrier" of sorts, positioning the armor panel over your chest and vital organs
