The Falling Tree is our Patented twist on a Dueling Tree target system.

From first glance it is obvious that this target system is not like other Dueling Tree style targets that you might have seen. Our objective with this system was to create a target that forces a multitude of different shooting fundamentals and to create an exciting system for shooters of all skill levels. Coupling this with our Breakdown Base makes for an exciting system that is built to last. Here are a few details surrounding the Falling Tree Target:

  • AR550 one piece paddle design:
    • Standard Paddle, 3/8″ AR550: Rated for centerfire pistols at 10 yards, light carbines (556/223, 300 BLK, 5.45×39, 7.62×39) at 50 yards
    • Rimfire Paddle, 3/16" AR400: Rated for 22 LR Calibers at 10 yards
  • Completely armored construction
  • Welded design = ultimate durability
  • CNC Laser cut track = perfect track, consistent function and reliability
  • The track is HARDER than the AR550 paddle which means maintenance is virtually ZERO
  • Warranty: if a weld breaks and the system does not function because of the break, you get a new system.

Falling Tree Target - Pistol & Rifle Rated

The Falling Tree Target: A Reactive and revolutionary twist to a standard Dueling Tree Target. We designed, manufactured, and patented this epic system back in 2016/2017. The best way to describe this system is a Dueling Tree, but with an amazing twist. The paddles drop each time you successfully rotate them. Your skill building commences the moment you begin training. Let’s talk about the Double Falling Tree Target.

Not A Dueling Tree, Something Better.

Our Falling Tree Target, although similar to a Dueling Tree, is very different. The reactive paddles will fall when successfully struck, which forces shooters to track hits. Poor hits result in the paddle returning to battery and not dropping. You will need to analyze closely EACH hit/impact. If the paddle doesn’t drop, follow through and send another round. It’s up to you to analyze the performance, impact, and reaction.

Stressing Target Focus And Analysis.

You will learn to focus on what your round is accomplishing, not just listening for a “Ping” of an impact. It is very possible to impact the paddle and fail to get a full rotation. Successful rotation will REQUIRE you to land your shots center and on target. Glancing blows on the armored shields MAY move the paddle, but you may not get a full rotation. Pay attention to inputs and outputs. Hone in your craft.

Single Paddle and upright: Perfect For Racing yourself and training solo.

The Single Falling Tree offers a huge value to anyone training to become better. You will find that this system challenges your skills while helping you to refine your shooting. Race the paddle to the bottom, or simply incorporate the falling tree into other drills on the range. The decision is yours: Train to a higher standard.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • It is light carbine rated. This system was NOT designed for heavy rifle calibers as the impacts from heavy rifle calibers is extremely violent on the system. This system was only meant for light rifles like .223/5.56 NATO, 300 BLK, 5.45×39, and 7.62×39.
  • Technically, yes. If you shoot a 308 at further distances, it CAN work with this system. However, you would need to walk all the way down range to reset the paddle. This system wasn’t designed with long range shooting in mind. If you want to shoot a reactive tree at distance, consider our Rifle Dueling Tree.
  • No. We only offer the 6″ diameter target paddle. We experimented with quite a few variations and they simply were not as reliable as the 6″ diameter paddle.
  • We recommend keeping the system free of rust and touched up with our touch up paint. Other than that simply enjoy it and use it to train with purpose.
  • The Pistol/Rifle Falling Tree stands approximately 72″ tall from base to top.
  • There are 8 total drops. If you install the paddle INCORRECTLY, the leg will stick above the shield and you will have 9 drops. It will hang up on the first shot if installed incorrectly. We have seen this done a few times so be sure you are installing the paddle correctly. If you have questions, look at our pictures on this page and the manual included with your order.

No. The “armor” we use for the strike plates (actual target impact plates) is made from a proprietary material that is manufactured in Sweden. this is the best material we have found in the world. We were largely dissatisfied with the QC of American made strike plates and had too many issues with quality control. Eventually we hope a US manufacturer creates a material that is as available and as stringent as our Swedish plate. For now, this is the best material to service our customers. US Manufactured AR500 and AR550 is used in areas that are NOT main strike plates. Some examples of this are the Rifle Dueling Tree Shields, Plate Rack Shields, Arachnid front shield and hostage brackets.

We source all other raw materials like our mild steel and AR500 steel from domestic mills. SOME hardware will unfortunately come from overseas as there are no US counterparts available at this time. We do NOT use Chinese mild steel or AR500 steel in any circumstances in any of our systems.

Maybe. Just in case, be sure not to eat the paint or lick the target before or after you’ve shot it. If you are just curious, led tastes horrible and will probably cause mental damage. If you have done it once you are likely to do it again. Handle at your own risk, if you choose, you may wear an industry grade hazmat suit and gas mask with a HEPA filter and good luck charm on your wrist.
