KnockDown Target Stands For Competitions

The Competitive Knockdown Target Stands, also known as Knock Over Target Stands, are built for shooters who demand more from their steel targets. Available in 36” and 48” heights, these stands are engineered with a fully welded assembly and AR500 reinforcement, making them far more durable than lightweight alternatives on the market. With a forward-leaning design for safe fragmentation deflection, tool-less gong installation, and quick reset functionality, these competition shooting targets are ideal for ranges, matches, and personal training setups.

Target Stand is Construction for Reliable Performance

Every detail of these knock over target stands is designed with longevity and safety in mind:

  • 3/16” laser-cut mild steel post, press brake-formed angle with pointed end for easy ground installation
  • 3/8” AR500 bottom plate, welded top and bottom for maximum strength
  • 1/4” AR500 gussets to resist bullet impacts and fragmentation
  • 10° forward lean on AR500 steel target plates, to direct frag safely toward the ground
  • Bottom of gong is positioned so fragmentation MISSES the bottom bracket plate, enhancing safety. 
  • Powder coat finish for corrosion resistance and long-lasting durability

These pistol and PCC rated target stands are pistol are compatible with TA Targets Genesis gongs, and Custom AR550 gongs (minimum 4” wide). Unlike cheap knockdown target systems, these stands are built to last through high-volume use without warping, bending, or requiring constant maintenance.

Fast Setup and Easy Reset AR500 Steel Target Gongs

The Competitive Knockdown Target Stands are designed for quick setup and smooth operation. Simply hammer the stand into soft ground at least 12” (using a mallet or hammer on the flat base plate), mount your steel gongs, and you’re ready to shoot. When struck, the gongs rotate backward and fall cleanly to the ground. Resetting is just as simple — pick them up and place them back into the stand, no tools required. (Other than the hammer)

Frequently Asked Questions:

NO! The angle is made from 3/16” steel and is laser cut and CNC press brake formed to a 90 degree angle. The angle is designed to deflect stray pistol rounds, but rifle rounds WILL pass through and cause holes. Pistols should NOT be shot directly at the post. Direct impacts may cause some surface bending that will not affect performance of the system.

 We designed this primarily to use our Genesis AR500 gongs, however our AR550 gongs will work as well.

While this system was designed for 3/8” Gongs, the ½” steel target gongs will work as well. The 1/2" gongs will have slightly more of a 10 degree angle, but only by a fraction.

Any of our Genesis Gongs will work, however we don’t necessarily recommend our Reduced C Zone or C Zone plates. These plates will likely be too heavy for a pistol to knock over.

This system is covered by our weld warranty, guaranteeing that the welds will last for life. If a weld cracks and results in the system no longer being able to be used, we will replace the post. Genesis Gongs are covered under our Genesis warranty. For more information, see the warranty section of our site.

Soil that is too loose may prove unstable. Ideally, you should choose an area with slightly compacted soil that requires reasonable force for installation. After the post is installed, it should feel stable and planted. Rocky terrain is really the only area our customers have seen issues with installation. Sandy soils work as well, but you may need to drive the post in further than 12”. In very loose applications, you may need to reinstall the post in order to maintain stability after long strings of fire.

The length is the overall length. The 36” version is approximately 36” long from tip of post to the point where the gong rests. The 48” is approximately 48” Dimensions may vary slightly. Weight of 36” post is around 9 pounds, the 48” post is about 15 pounds. These dimensions are BEFORE driving post into ground. So if you drive the 36” post 12” into the ground, it will be standing 24” above ground.

Maybe. Just in case, be sure not to eat the paint or lick the target before or after you’ve shot it. If you are just curious, led tastes horrible and will probably cause mental damage. If you have done it once you are likely to do it again. Handle at your own risk, if you choose, you may wear an industry grade hazmat suit and gas mask with a HEPA filter and good luck charm on your wrist.
