The Breakdown base is the result of nearly two years worth of R&D, testing and refinement. We are proud to offer the breakdown base to our customers as it further expands on the legendary foundation of TA Targets that began in 2015.

The Breakdown Target Base is designed to be our most versatile and practical base yet.

The Breakdown Target Base shares DNA with our round bases of the past. It features a similar assembled size to our 20″ Gen 1 and Gen 2 bases, but shares the breakdown capabilities of the retired Arachnid Base. All of the lessons learned over the last years have been combined. Expandable, portable, and elegant are a few words to describe this amazing target base.

The Breakdown Base is truly a labor of love. We have highly refined the manufacturing processes required to make this base. What this means is each base is produced with an attention to detail and consistency like never before. Our products were always top tier previously. Now..they are epic. Users can expect an extremely solid and stable foundation that is lightweight and capable of being packed into even the smallest vehicles.

Each component is replaceable.

One of the greatest benefits of this steel target base is the fact that it can be maintained. We know you are like us. You want to invest in products that serve you in the long haul. But..stuff happens. And when it does, you need a system that can be repaired. EVERY component on this base can be replaced and serviced. In days of past, our bases were fully welded. Now you are in control. If a stray round impacts your base and you need to replace a part, you can.

This base features many upcoming accessories that will further enhance the user experience. We designed this base forward thinking, knowing that we needed a platform to build off for years to come. Answer: No. We are in fact moving entirely away from welded bases. Going forward our customers will have an even more refined base that is FULLY serviceable. Overall, having products you can maintain is critically important to our mission. Thus, “Planned Obsolescence” is not a phrase we use or believe in. We believe in building it right the first time. We are also mildly obsessed with pursuing perfection. So this is a natural progression for our company.

Answer: Yes! Although there are some details that matter. So if you have a C Zone, Vital Zone, Mini Vital Zone, Mini A-DAP System..you are good to go. In other words, this base in the standard configuration will work perfectly fine. Additionally, there will be different variations available for the Falling Tree, Double Falling Tree, Dueling Tree, Phoenix Plate Rack and MOD 1 Bullet Trap. These larger systems will use many of the same components, but they will also include other stiffeners and extensions to make the systems work flawlessly.

Answer: Yes. To put it plainly: the Breakdown Base is the future of TA Targets on all fronts. Check our other product pages for more information on these specific products.

Answer: No. The breakdown base is certainly NOT a target. To repeat, t is NOT designed to be shot. It will resist wear and tear from fragmentation, but direct impacts will cause damage. Moreover, this has always been the case with our bases. All in all, the major difference is you can now fix your base if need be.

Answer: A standard 2X4 works fine for the 2X4 tube. It will fit “looser” than previous bases. We oversized this tube slightly to assist in removal of boards in damp environments. As far as paper holders are concerned, either use 1X2 furring strips OR the BEST option is to use our custom paper holder sticks. You can find them HERE.

All our steel targets are manufactured right here in Pennsylvania. Since the beginning we have been manufacturing our products right here to exacting standards. No Chinese steel, no questionable processes or procedures. Only the best for your range and training.

Answer: No. This is JUST the base assembly. We showed the top bracket stowed inside the base in one of the gallery photos. This base does NOT include a Gen 5 top bracket when purchased separately. If you purchase a complete target system, it will come with everything you need.

Maybe. Just in case, be sure not to eat the paint or lick the target before or after you’ve shot it. If you are just curious, led tastes horrible and will probably cause mental damage. If you have done it once you are likely to do it again. Handle at your own risk, if you choose, you may wear an industry grade hazmat suit and gas mask with a HEPA filter and good luck charm on your wrist.
